For Moms: Coping with Stress
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
Mothers are on the front lines of helping families adjust to life during a pandemic. In this group, we will dedicate time to gaining psychological skills to cope with new stressors, applying these skills to our daily lives, and connecting with others. Useful ideas will be explored from mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

MEETING OVERVIEW

Meeting 1: Introductions and Guidelines, exploring cognition and emotion

Meeting 2: Grief “stages”

Meeting 3: Scaling emotions and the role of anxiety

Meeting 4: Getting activated and battling depression symptoms

Meeting 5: Self-care when under pressure

Meeting 6: Mindful navigation of stress

Meeting 7: Acceptance and diffusion techniques

Meeting 8: Review, future directions, and goodbyes
